Adara Relief International, as a humanitarian organization concerned with the horrific plight in Palestine, hereby calls on all parts of the nation, including the government, the legislature, the Council of Indonesian Ulamas, NGOs, mass organizations, and other national leaders to:
- Urge the Indonesian government to prioritize the Palestinian cause during the elected president’s first 100 days in office. Indonesia must urge Israel to immediately cease its occupation of Palestinian land, end the genocide in Gaza, and work toward a free Palestine with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital within a year at the latest, to demonstrate a firm commitment to our Constitution.
- Ensure the implementation of The UN Resolution, the Government of Indonesia should collaborate with all 143 UN members, including Russia, China, and France (all members of the UN Security Council), as well as all members of the OIC, the Arab League, and ASEAN, who have agreed to it. If Israel persists in its disobedience, they should be sanctioned by getting excluded from all international organizations, allowing countries with diplomatic ties to Israel or those planning to normalize relations with Israel to cancel or review their decisions.
- Demand that members of the legislature become more active in offering complete support for Palestine, Gaza, and Masjid Al Aqsa. This support should include passing laws against occupation, boycotting Israeli products, and providing budget assistance to the Indonesian government for its support of Palestine. Also, increase lobbying in various international parliamentary groups to censure the Israeli Parliament, even if it means ousting it from these organizations.
- Urge the Indonesian government to provide military escorts guarding humanitarian aid to Palestine.
- Urge that the Indonesian government acquire a UN mandate to send peacekeeping soldiers to the conflict zone, specifically Gaza, to defend humanitarian goals, aid assets, and Indonesian humanitarian workers.
- Urge all authorities to ensure unrestricted access for humanitarian supplies to reach all areas of the Gaza Strip in significant quantities as soon as possible. Based on the collected data, we identified at least three major and primary needs.
- Food scarcity, including malnutrition among Gazan children.
- Medical assistance, including medications, health workers, ambulances, and other support equipment.
- Shelters: after a year of Israel’s genocide on Gaza, about 100,000 of the 135,000 refugee tents are in poor condition. We kindly request all components of the nation to work together with the Indonesian government to reconstruct Gaza via the collaborative creation of ‘Kota Indonesia.’
- Urge the Indonesian government, through the Council of Indonesian Ulamas (MUI), to issue a fatwa and uphold current fatwas on Muslims’ commitment to support Palestine against the Israeli occupation. Nu’man ibn Bashir (r.a) reports that the Prophet (SAW) made the following statement:
“The believers in their mutual mercy, love, and compassion are like a single body; when one limb is in pain, the rest of the body joins in insomnia, fever, and restlessness.”
(Sahih Bukhariy, Hadith: 6011) - Urge the Indonesian government to unite all institutions and communities to demonstrate support for Palestine by implementing the following measures:
- Establish a coordinating body for humanitarian agencies.
- Establish a dedicated office in Egypt or Jordan for Indonesian assistance to Palestine.
- Appoint a special envoy for Palestine to facilitate coordination with relevant parties in pursuing Palestinian independence.
- Prohibit Israeli items from being used in government institutions.
- Optimize Indonesia’s role for Palestinian independence in the international arena through:
- A direct attendance of the President of Republic Indonesia at the UN General Assembly.
- Indonesia’s participation in the Human Rights Council to ensure the implementation of special procedures, such as the special rapporteur and commission of inquiry on the Palestinian human rights situation.
- Ratification of important international treaties relating to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, namely the Genocide Convention (1948), the Refugee Convention (1951), the Apartheid Convention (1973), and the Rome Statute (1998).
- The initiative to form minilateral coalitions with countries that do not have diplomatic relations.
We conclude the recommendations we’ve put together above and encourage all segments of Indonesian society to continue to actively support the Palestinian cause. Let us, as Indonesians, work together to bring positive changes to the future of Palestine, and with the spirit of unity, humanitarian solidarity, and concrete actions, we can work together to realize justice and freedom for all nations.
